Trivia[edit edit source]
- Prior to , Supply Drop ammo used to be gold along with the Supply Drop weapons themselves. Their rarity was upgraded to red to differentiate them from fully kitted weapons.
- Before the introduction of in , snipers used the other ammo types.
- Non-energy weapons fire orange-yellow projectiles, regardless of if they are using , , , or . Energy weapons fire blue projectiles (or, in the case of the L-STAR EMG, red projectiles).
- The Charge Rifle, Triple Take, and Peacekeeper are energy weapons, but they do not use because they are snipers and shotguns. The Charge Rifle and Triple Take used to use energy ammo before the sniper rework. The Peacekeeper never used energy ammo, but it uses 'battery shells' in the lore and its codename is 'energy_shotgun' in the files.
- The Sentinel can temporarily energize itself with its unique charge mechanic. Additionally, anything can get energized if it gets shot through Rampart's .
- There is a myth that slow enemies down unlike other ammo types. According to Respawn developer Daniel Klein,[1][2]all ammo slows non-fortified characters down by 10% for 1/4 of a second. This can only happen once every 3 seconds.

Since Apex Legends launched, there has always only been two sections of your inventory: Gear and general storage. For the first time ever that changing with Chaos Theory Collection Event via the introduction of a brand-new item category and item slot. Let’s take a look at what this is, and what everything looks like.
Survival Slot

While only one slot has been added to the inventory, the way that it will change and improve Quality of Life in the game is boundless. The new slot is called the Survival Slot and will specifically be reserved for survival utility items. This means players can only hold one type of Survival Item at a time, but also that you won’t take up general inventory space to hold it. This is definitely a bonus as long as you communicate with your team on who has what.
Survival Items
There are now two Survival items in the game. The Mobile Respawn Beacon, which was introduced over the summer, and the Heat Shield, debuting with the Chaos Theory Collection Event.
Mobile Respawn Beacon
© Provided by GamePur Image via RespawnCall in a Respawn Beacon at any valid ground location and then respawn players as normal without being confined to the set respawn locations on a map. Takes time to call in, in addition to the time it takes to resurrect. Does not stack, unless you are playing Fuse, then it stacks up to two.
Heat Shield
© Provided by GamePur Image via RespawnPlace down a dome outside of the ring (or in a Ring Flare) to activate it and prevent ring damage. While active, revives are 25% faster and heal items are 50% faster inside of it. Breaks over time, and breaks faster the stronger the ring. You can place it inside the ring, but it will not activate until the ring closes over it. Stacks up to two.
It should be noted that the Survival category does not include the Ultimate Accelerant, and that the Ultimate Accelerant still remains its own little outlier among all of the other multi-item categories.
